AWI-ESM versions
Summary
AWI-ESM will have in the future only 2 main versions:
-
2.1
(echam6.3.05p2 with concurrent radiation + fesom-2.1) -
2.2
(the same as 2.1 + PISM)
Both versions will support activating WISO
, REcoM
, PICO
... from the runscript with the following variables:
general:
with_wiso: true/fales
with_recom: true/false
with_pico: true/false
...
Every version that is not 2.1
or 2.2
will be considered a development version, non-stable, if some users want to use these versions they should directly contact the version developers, not the ESM-Tools team.

Provisional immediate solutions
-
@fmatos and @stepanek will be using awiesm-2.1-wiso
to run her simulations until the necessary merges in the source codes take place and the default2.1
supports all the plugin options. ESM-Tools will support all the necessary modifications until a definite solution is found.
Tasks to achieve the targeted version configurations
-
Merging of the fesom
WISO, PICO?... branches intofesom-awiesm-2.1
(@pgierz) -
Merging of REcoM
branch intofesom-awiesm-2.1
(@mbutzin, @yye) -
Merging of the echam
WISO branch intoecham-awiesm-6.3.05p2
(@pgierz) Once the tasks above are finished: -
Necessary changes in the awiesm-2.1.yaml
to support the new source codes for 2.1 with switches for different options (with_wiso
,with_recom
,with_pico
...) (@mandresm, @dural) -
Testing 2.1 with the different options and comparison with already existing experiments (@mandresm, @dural) Potentially done in parallel (depending on workload of the ESM-Tools team and Lars) -
Version 2.2
(with PISM) -
